About Us
Rationale
The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) has an objective to support, develop and provide guidance to personnel to enter the gem and jewelry market as well as preparing qualified design training courses. Therefore, to support the jewelry design, to create awareness amongst the public and to a stage where new generations designers to be able to showcase their products to business buyers, the institute has hosted an annual jewelry design awards inviting students, passionate designers and public to have an opportunity to express their creativity and to push energy and enthusiasm towards the gem and jewelry industry.
For the 13thtime this year, the institute is hosting GIT’s World Jewelry Design Awards 2019 inviting participants from all over the world, the main objective of this project is to further encourage young generations and designers to exchange their knowledge, perspective and creativity. Moreover, GIT’s World Jewelry Design Awards is the only one jewelry design award that is widely accepted amongst international designers.
This year, the theme will be “Blue by Day, Green by Evening, Red by Night” starring blue jewel (focusing on sapphire), red jewel (focusing on ruby) and green jewel (focusing on peridot)to be the main component of the design. Also, the institute is hosting a Challenge Gems Faceting Master for Chantaburi Lapidary and for International Lapidary, it opens an opportunity for students to study gems faceting and for new and professional lapidaries to further strengthen their skills to an international standard.
Objectives
To support and to be a stage for new generation designers such as students, designers and passionate public, where they are able to present their designs to both
To support designs that can be produced and trade in the gem and jewelry industry, or to be able to develop an existing design piece that can be a career opportunity.
To gain awareness in design and to show new generation designer’s potential to both local and international audiences.
To support Thai and International designers in knowledge and perspectives exchange.
To enhance youths and passionate designers, both Thai and International, to have an out of the box yet sensible creative ideas.
To support new generation researchers into the gem and jewelry industry as well as being a national stage for knowledge exchange and broadcast high quality researches between researchers, entrepreneurs or any individuals who can benefit from the research.

Submission Requirements
● The submitted design must be related to the theme and must contain a minimum of 3 design pieces in one collection; a necklace design is mandatory and can be featured with any other types of jewelry such as earrings, rings, bracelets, etc. for example one collection can contain a necklace, earring, bracelet or necklace ring brooch
*Please submit one collection per one submission only, you can submit up to 3 collections during the submission period
● The applicant has the freedom to use any types of material or new innovative material such as wood, plastic, resin in their design piece, as well as the freedom to use any technique such as sewing, knitting or any new innovative techniques, but the design needs to be able to produce and trade in the gem and jewelry industry
● Every design piece submitted must be an original piece, is not commercially produced and have not been awarded in at competition.Plagiarism content and design will not be accepted and reviewed by the judges.
The usage of colored gemstone and prizes
Every design piece must contain red, blue or green gem as the main component of the design and there are no shades limitation.
● Prizes for Ruby (Red) or Sapphire (Blue) or Semi-Precious Stone with similar shade, the applicant can either use only one colored gem or use both red and blue gem in their design piece.
● Prizes for Peridot (Green) or Semi-Precious Stone with similar shade, the applicant must only use green gemin their design piece.

● Download your application form via www.gitwjda.com/application (red button left hand side)
● Print the submission form and insert all information (print in black and white, and only the last page (page 3) is applicable)
● Draw/sketch or print your design piece in A3 paper only * Name – Surname or biography of the applicant must not be included in any images
● Submit in person at the Gem and Jewelry Training Center, 3rd Floor at The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or send via post to Mrs.Thitintharee Leelawatanasuk, Gem and Jewelry Training Center, The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) ITF-Tower Building. 3rd Floor, Silom Road, Suriyawong, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. (Input for contest in front of the parcel)
● Please ensure that your package or parcel is packed properly and must arrive at the Institute within 1st August 2019
● Insert all mandatory information and upload your design via www.gitwjda.com/application
● All images submitted must be at least 300 DPI resolution *Name – Surname or biography of the applicant must not be included in any images

Submission Requirements
● Applicants can use Synthetic Gemstone or Semi-precious stone with no color limitation, cutting in a cushion shape with no limitation to the number of edges (Mixed cut or Fancy cut) approximate size of 25 millimeters.
● An applicant can submit up to 2 gems
● The submitted gemstone must be packed neatly with the following information enclosed in the package: lapidary name, company name (if any), type of gemstone, size (in millimeters) and weight (in karat)
